Backpacker first aid is designed to meet the American Camping Association and the Scouts of America's guidelines for first aid. This course is also an essential course for any outdoor enthusiast. This course teaches basic information about medical problems and traumatic injuries that are most commonly seen in the back country. This course can be offered as a online lecture series or as an inperson training event!
The Wilderness First Aid (WFA) course will help you prepare for the unexpected. This fast paced, hands-on training is designed to meet the needs of outdoor enthusiasts and individuals working in remote locations. It will introduce you to caring for people who become ill or injured far from any medical care. Classroom lectures and demonstrations are combined with realistic scenarios At the end of the course, you’ll have the knowledge, skills and ability to make sound decisions in emergency situations when in the back country. (16 Hours)
The Wilderness First Responder course is designed to teach those that are medical professionals and or trip leaders skills necessary to assess, treat and care for patients or clients in the back country setting. Classroom lectures and demonstrations are combined with realistic scenarios where mock patient scenarios will reinforce learning and challenge skills known and learned. Learning takes place both in the classroom and in outdoor settings regardless of weather conditions. (80 Hours)
This 24 hour course is a scenario based learning exercise. You will be challenged to reapply skills, assessment techniques, and decision making processes learned in your initial training programs to complete the scenarios. This 24 hour refresher must be completed to renew your WFR or WEMT qualifications. Current qualifications cannot be more than 6 months expired if attempting to renew after the expiration date. Students must be present for all 24 hours to receive credit. Upon completion participants will receive a renewed Wilderness First Responder qualification from the National Association for Search and Rescue.
The Wilderness Life Support for the Medical Professional (WLS:MP) course is designed to provide medical professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively manage medical emergencies in remote and wilderness settings. The curriculum of the WLS:MP course follows the most up-to-date guidelines and best practices set forth by the Wilderness Medical Society (WMS).
The WLS:MP course covers a wide range of topics such as patient assessment, wound management, musculoskeletal injuries, environmental emergencies, and much more. Participants will also learn how to improvise medical equipment, communicate effectively, and make decisions in situations where resources are limited.
The Wilderness Paramedic Upgrade Course is an intensive 56-hour program designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide advanced medical care in remote and challenging wilderness environments. This comprehensive course covers a wide range of topics, blending theoretical knowledge with hands-on practical skills and immersive scenarios. It is ideal for healthcare professionals, Advanced EMTs, and Paramedics seeking to enhance their ability to respond effectively to medical emergencies in remote settings.
This is a Hybrid program where participants will need to complete several training modules online within 30 days prior to the main training event.
This course is also an approved IBSC Refresher program for their Wilderness Paramedic Certification.
